Starwood has announced the debut of its Le Meridien brand in Bangladesh by opening a hotel in Dhaka. The hotel is set to open in less than a year – in June 2013. The new property with 304 guestrooms will be located not far away from the main airport of the city and will feature simple access to the business district of the city. Le Meridien Dhaka will also please its visitors with magnificent breath-taking views of the city. This will be the second hotel by Starwood in Bangladesh.
Starwood is currently seeking new opportunities of expanding in South Asia, so the opening of a hotel in Dhaka is a logical step. Moreover, Dhaka is known as one of the world’s fastest growing cities, so an upscale hotel brand as Le Meridien may become popular there. Dhaka is likely to become is popular tourist destination as well due to its rich cultural heritage. The city is often called “Rickshaw capital of the world” and “the City of Mosques”.
The 5-star Le Meridien Dhaka will occupy floors 8-15 of a new mixed development. The roof of the building will feature panoramic views of the city. The hotel will have an all-day dining restaurant, four other food and beverage zones, specialty restaurants, a 2,400 sq. ft. spa and a huge 2,800 sq. ft. fitness centre. The hotel will have a signature “Le Meridien Hub” – a traditional lobby is replaced with comfortable space perfect for conservation and exchanging opinions.
