Morgans Hotel Group to Open a Hotel in Great Scotland Yard
Morgans Hotel Group continues its international expansion. The company has announced the opening of one more Hudson property, this time in St. James’s, London. The hotel in Great Scotland Yard will be named Hudson London and will be the flagship hotel of the company in the region. Following Hudson hotel in New York, the accommodation at Great Scotland Yard follows under the plan of Morgans to open Hudson hotels in all main cities around the world.
Hudson London is expected to open in the beginning of 2015. The property right in the heart of Westminster will certainly feature simple and fast access to all most important landmarks of the region, such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and Trafalgar Square.
The new boutique hotel will have 234 guestrooms and will occupy an old 102-year building of the Edwardian period. Previously the building was occupied by the Ministry of Defence. Later it was used for recruitment of the British army, and starting from 1980s the building was turned into a library. Morgans is now to turn this property into Harrods hotel and promises to keep its signature features, such as making its famous public areas that are perfect for social exchange. The hotelier will present to the public its cutting-edge modern style and top quality service.
Hudson London will have a restaurant on the ground floor, a library lounge for 40 seats, a large boardroom that can be used for various business meetings or for private events and celebrations.
The announcement concerning the hotel also signifies the beginning of partnership between Morgans Hotel Group and Sansar Investments Ltd., the owner of the property.
