Marriott International has unveiled its new program dedicated to outbound Chinese guests. The program is named “Li Yu” and aimed at providing special amenities and services tailored for Chinese travellers and their national peculiarities.
The phrase “Li Yu” can be translated as “serve with courtesy” in Mandarin. After making a reservation guests will receive a confirmation letter or email in Chinese. When they arrive at the hotel, a Mandarin speaking hotel associate will meet them. Chinese delicacies and traditional food will be also added to menus of restaurants and in-room dining, so guests will feel more at home.
Marriott has also taken some steps that will help Chinese travellers to stay in touch with news and events of their country. For example, guestrooms will be equipped with TVs with Chinese channels and guests will be delivered Chinese-language newspapers. All guests will be provided with Chinese tea and kettles.
There are many other subtle nuances that will definitely make Chinese travellers even more pleased. For example, providing them with room and floor numbers that contain digits “6” or “8”, which are considered favorable, or equipping all rooms with adapters that are suitable for Chinese electrical gadgets. Guestrooms will also contain Asian sized slippers and bathrobes.
The “Li Yu” program will be launched in all JW Marriott, Courtyard, Renaissance, and Marriott hotels in Asia in the beginning of 2013. Later it will be available in selected hotels around the world.
Marriott has been serving Chinese travellers for more than two decades, so now, according to the company’s spokesman, they know what Chinese travellers need and want to serve them they best way possible.
