Saudi investment company Abdul Latif Jameel Real Estate Investment Co. (or ALJREIC) has recently unveiled its plans concerning the development of new hotels in Makkah. The hotel industry of the province will be definitely changed a lot as the company plans to build as many as 8,500 new guestrooms. ALJREIC plans to invest 10 billion of Saudi riyals (over US$2.6 billion) into this project. According to the company’s officials, this step has been done in order to meet the growing demand and increased number of tourists coming to Makkah.
The company has already started developing a large-scale Jabal Al-Ka-ba project, the cost of which estimates 4 billion Saudi riyals (over US$1 billion). In order to serve the needs of Makkah visitors, ALJREIC has decided to launch a new hotel brand that is inspired by the local Hijazi culture. The name of the brand is Anjum Hotels and the first property will be opened already in the beginning of 2013. This will be a large 1,795 guestroom Anjum Makkah.
Makkah (many foreign tourists know it as Mecca) is the most populous province of Saudi Arabia. Jeddah is the largest city of the province, a popular tourist destination, and also the main port of Saudi Arabia. The capital of the province is Mecca (or Makkah) – the sacred city for all Muslims.
