Marriott International expands in Korean market by opening a hotel in Dongdaemun, a northern part of Seoul. This is the first accommodation by the famous hotelier in the region. The hotel will start operating by 2013.
Dongdaemun is an area near Seoul. Currently the capital of South Korea expands in a fast tempo, so the growth of the city will soon reach Dongdaemun and will make it more popular among visitors. Marriott International is very positive about its projects in Seoul as this market is the second highest one after Hong Kong in terms of revenue and business in Asia.
The new hotel is located in a district dedicated to design and fashion. The new hotel will be surrounded by trading centers and smaller boutiques. As it is not hard to guess, Marriott plans to make ultra-fashionable and modern accommodation that will be very popular among stylish urbanites as a “cool place”. The hotel may also become a popular venue for weddings.
The new hotel in Dongdaemun will be located in a ten-story building and will have 170 guestrooms. This is almost a half less than in JW Marriott hotel in Central City in Gangnam. The hotelier says this is not the only hotel in the region scheduled for opening, so we should expect more hotels in Korea to be added in future. Currently the goal of Marriott is to build 110 hotels in Asia Pacific by 2015.
