Singapore-based KOP Group has received the permission from municipal authorities to turn the historic building located on 10 Trinity Square into a hotel.
KOP Properties bought this building in 2010 from the Beijing-based company Reignwood Group. Now it plans to convert this iconic property into a luxury hotel with 120 guestrooms and 41 residences. The hotel in London will be managed by the owner’s company KOP Hotels & Resorts.
The building, which attracts visitors by its timeless and classic look, is likely to become one of the iconic destinations in London. The hotelier plans to make the new hotel very British and classy. The building, which is adjacent to the Tower of London, was opened in 1922 and housed the headquarters of the Port of London. The design of the building was approved in 1912, exactly 100 years ago. The hotel is scheduled for opening in 2014. The renovation of the building will be performed by architectural firm Woods Bagot. This is the first European property by KOP, but the hotelier has very ambitious plans concerning its development in the region.
