An interesting fact – when the famous 19th century courtesan Cora Pearl visited London in 1870, she made a booking in The Grosvenor hotel in London, but she was rejected once the news of her lifestyle faced the surface. This year the iconic hotel opened a luxurious suite dedicated to the Parisian courtesan, among the lovers of which had been many noble men and even members of royal families.
In order to make this suite an 18-month renovation was performed. The full name of the suite is Courtesan’s Boudoir – The Cora Pearl Suite. The luxurious suite is made in the rococo style inspired by homes of French aristocracy. Guests will see heavy glass chandeliers, silver-finished furniture, lamps trimmed with feathers and damask wallpapers. There will be also a replica of the famous bronze bath with engravings. Pearl used it to bath her visitors in champagne.
Designers of the suite had a tough target – they needed to make a suite that would remind of Cora Pearl and would fit English heritage of the hotel. Cora Pearl had a very interesting life – born in poverty, she managed to become one of the brightest figures of the elite of her time. This suite will be a perfect choice for visitors, who want to feel the true luxury and dive into glamour of elite of Victorian times.
