MGM Resorts International has announced the launch of its Bellagio brand in China. This has become possible thanks to an agreement with Suning Group Nanjing, China. The company will build the 200-guestroom Suning Bellagio hotel in Shanghai. The hotel is expected to open in 2015. This is told to be the beginning of collaboration between the two companies, and more Bellagio hotels are expected to be opened in China.
In order to manage the hotel, MGM has created a special joint venture called Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality. This time the hotelier couples with Beijing-headquartered Diaoyutai State Guest House.
China is known as a country with one of the fastest developing hotel markets, so there’s no wonder why all major hotel companies of the world are eager to start their business in this country. Both MGM and Suning plan to increase their penetration in China. Jim Murren, the CEO of MGM, calls China their “strategically vital marketplace”. By the way, China is not the only company where Bellagio brand is to be launched. Not so long ago MGM has announced the debut of this brand in India.
