Local government has finally permitted the building of the new hotel in Belfast. The accommodation, located right in the center of the city, will have 130 guestrooms. The plan of building of the hotel was submitted by Andras House yet in 2009.
Andras House is a firm that is controlled by Lord Rana. This is not its first hotel in Belfast as the company already owns several accommodations there. The new hotel will have a wonderful location at St. Andrews Square near Great Victoria Street. Currently this site is used as a car parking. The new hotel will be built almost opposite to another hotel, the Days Hotel, which has the same owner – Andras House.
However, the building permission doesn’t mean that the company needs to start the building right now. The permission is issued for 5 years, during which Andras House needs to decide what they do. If nothing is done within 5 years, a fresh application will be needed.
During last 10 years many hotels in Belfast were opened, but there were almost no new developments. Among the reasons for this are recession and troubles with getting approval from the government.
Andras House also has plans concerning the development of two more hotels in Belfast on Great Victoria Street. All hotels will be operated by Accor.
