Hotwire has published quite an interesting study that throws the light upon trips that will be made by British people in 2012. Even though more people residing in the United Kingdom are expected to make trips in 2012, they are likely to spend less money for their vacations comparing to 2011.
Around 75% of the adult population of the Great Britain (955,092) plan to make trips in 2012. This is 2% more than in 2011. However, this year British holidaymakers will spend as many as 4% less for their trips. If in 2011 the average cost of vacation estimated £2,009 (US$3,150) per household, this year it will be £1,920 (US$3,010).
What do people plan to do with their tighter budgets? Around 30% of respondents say they will search for special travel deals more actively comparing to the previous year. 18% of British add price becomes more significant and now they look at price of hotels rather than at their brand. Finally, 14% of people say they will travel in the UK and won’t go abroad to save.
By the way, the research has also shown that older travellers spend more on their vacations than young people. Holidaymakers aged 55 and more spend an average of £2,123 (US$3,328) for their vacation, while younger people (aged 34-55 years old) spend £1,864 (US$2,922). The youngest age group, 18 to 34 years, will spend the least money – here the average cost of trip per household estimates £1,739 (US$2,726).
