HotStats U.K. report by TRI Hospitality Consulting has revealed the latest information about the UK hotels. According to it, provincial hotels improved their performance in August, while hotels in London didn’t get any optimistic results.
Starting from April 2010 hotels in London have suffered from declines in profit. However, August 2011 was simply disastrous. The level of profit per room in London accommodations estimated £44.41 or US$69.37. This is 50% less comparing to August 2010 and almost a half less comparing even to the previous month. Such decrease in profit occurred despite positive forecasts and growing TrevPAR (total revenue per available apartment) - it grew by 0.4% comparing to the previous year. Revenues from food and beverages, as well as revenues from rooms also grew by 1% and 1.1% respectively.
However, experts are not very negative about these results. The decline in profit in London hotels is traditional for August. This year the performance is poor due to the timing of Ramadan and riots, which have made impact on vacation tourists.
The rest of the UK has more optimistic figures. Here hotels in Edinburgh occupy the leading place with increase in profit of 8.9%. The occupancy grew by 1.9% and estimated 90.4%. August is traditionally a good month for local accommodations as several festivals attract many visitors. Hotels in Manchester and Leicester also show improved stats.
