While the US troops leave the territory of Iraq, Hilton steps in and signs the first deal concerning the management of a hotel in this country. The internationally famous hotelier headquartered in McLean, Virginia, has just concluded the agreement with another American company – the Claremont Group headquartered in New York. Claremont is currently involved into the building of a hotel in Erbil. This Iraq city is located near Kurdistan and is considered a relatively peaceful region of the country. Once opened, the hotel will operate under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.
The hotel, which will be located in the center of the city, will have 200 serviced apartments. On the territory of the hotel will be also located a business center, a swimming pool, a health club, two restaurants, eight meeting rooms and a bar in the hotel’s lobby.
Erbil is one of the most significant cities in Iraq. The importance of the city as well as its commercial status increase very quickly. At the moment this is an important business tourist destination, but Iraq becomes more popular among leisure tourists, so Hilton hopes to target both groups. According to Rudi Jagersbacher, the president of Hilton Middle East & Africa, the company is sure in success and looks forward to open this property.
