Marriott has concluded an agreement with Empire Iraq concerning the managing of two hotels in Erbil, Iraq.
Erbil is a town in the northern part of Kurdistan. This area is rather peaceful and safe comparing to other parts of the country. Empire Iraq is a local developer that currently builds a complex that will include a business center, a chain of stores and boutiques, and a residential area. Marriott will open two properties in this mixed use development. These will be 200-key Marriott Hotels & Resorts property and one more Marriott Exclusive Apartments accommodation with 75 units.
Ed Fuller, the president and managing director of Marriott International Lodging branch, has told the company considers this experience very encouraging and sees numerous economical and commercial opportunities in developing hotels in Erbil. No information about expected occupancies or rates in the hotel and residential apartments is provided.
These accommodations are going to be the first Marriott hotels in Iraq.
