Starwood has announced the opening of two hotels in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Both hotels are owned by Saudi Brothers Commercial Co. and will be adjacent to each other. The properties will operate under different brands. The first hotel will be the 297-key Sheraton Medina Hotel, while the second property is the 178-key Four Points by Sheraton Medina. The two accommodations will start operating in the end of 2012.
Currently Starwood operates 10 hotels in Saudi Arabia under 3 different brands - Le Méridien, Sheraton and Westin. Sheraton hotel in Medina will be the forth property by this brand in the country. Other Sheraton hotels are located in Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh. Four Points hotel in Medina will be the first property by this brand in the country. However, Starwood’s pipeline also contains Four Points hotels in Al Khobar and Jeddah.
Starwood’s representatives state they are happy to establish partnership with Saudi Brothers Commercial and hope these two hotels are only the beginning of a long and successful collaboration. The hotelier has ambitious plans concerning the Middle East and believes in continuous growth of the region in general and Saudi Arabia in particular. Moreover, Medina is a holy city for Muslim people, so opening a hotel in it is a right decision.
The location of both hotels is advantageous as they are just 150m away from the famous Prophet’s Mosque. The windows of Sheraton medina will feature panoramic views of the Mosque and Plaza. Guests will also get a direct access to Jannat al-Baqi – one of the key places during Haji.
