UK hotelier Travelodge Hotels Ltd. has revealed its new concept of budget hotels. The concept is named Metro and will be applied to small accommodations that have around 40 guestrooms. The hotels that feature this concept will be mainly located in popular urban locations.
Travelodge plans to have as many as 100 properties that fall under the new concept until 2020. As the hotelier concentrates on smaller properties, it will try to benefit from the size, opening small hotels in the areas where bigger accommodations cannot be opened or are too expensive. Metro hotels are very compact, so they can be opened in theatres, billiard halls, trading outlets, offices, and so on.
The concept has acquired its main features thanks to a successful object by Travelodge – a hotel in Edinburg on Rose Street that features 43 guestrooms and is located between 2 bars and a restaurant. The hotel is located in a Gregorian style building and is the key property of the hotelier due to its location and the level of profit.
Another inspiration to the hotelier is 52 Innkeeper’s Lodges that has been converted into the Travelodge brand. This purchase has shown how profitable small hotels can be. Travelodge plans to open Metro hotels in all major cities of the UK. The downsizing of building requirements allows the hotelier finding high-quality accommodations in prime locations offered on reasonable prices.
