Marriott International has just signed a management agreement with Jabal Omar Development Co. According to it the famous hotelier will manage three hotels in Mecca that are scheduled for opening within several years.
The list of the hotels that will be opened includes Courtyard by Marriott Makkah (432 guestrooms), JW Marriott Hotel Makkah (636 guestrooms), and Makkah Marriott Hotel (540 guestrooms). The first hotel is expected to greet its first guests in 2014.
All hotels will be located on the Haram, so their windows will feature stunning looks of the Grand Mosque’s Plaza. The first property scheduled for opening is Makkah Marriott. Other two hotels will start operating at least a month later. All properties will later become a part of a huge mixed-use development. This means besides the hotels the territory will include retail outlets, residential villas and other facilities.
As three hotels are located in the holiest city for Islamic countries, they will mostly target religious pilgrims. According to Ed Fuller, the president of Marriott’s international lodgings, they are going to fit virtually any requirement of their guests.
JW Marriott Hotel Makkah will have 200 junior suites and over 400 accommodations with single and double beds. Especially for large families a part of accommodations has inner connections. The hotel will have 5 restaurants, 24-h service, a business center, and a lounge zone. Courtyard by Marriott Makkah will feature ambient design with casual furniture. A part of rooms with also have interconnections and will be equipped with a separate bath and shower tub. Makkah Marriott will feature contemporary design with bold colors and sophisticated lightning. On the territory of the hotel will be located a business center, retail space, a coffee shop, meeting rooms, lobby lounge and more.
