According to the data provided by Pegasus Solutions, the royal wedding was more than successful for hotels in London. The hotels in the capital of the UK experienced the increase in bookings and revenues up to nearly 400%.
April 30, the date of the wedding, was a huge success for London accommodations as their revenues estimated 384% comparing to revenues on the same day a year ago. The preceding and post-wedding weekends were also much more profitable than usual ones, showing the growth in revenues of 215.1% and 210.9% respectively.
Another reason of the successful performance of hotels in London is late Easter. Overall weekends in this city are much more profitable in 2011 comparing to 2010 as the total increase in revenues estimates 134%.
Mike Kistner, the CEO of Pegasus, says the royal wedding has made many international and domestic travellers to stretch their stay in London. That’s why many people came earlier than needed, while the others stayed in the city for several days more. The combination of longer stays and higher rates helped hoteliers to reach triple-digit revenues.
The majority of visitors of hotels in London on the weekend of royal wedding were the domestic travellers. Tourists from the US occupy the second place in this list. The third and fourth largest sources of international travellers are France and Germany.
Pegasus is the largest global processor of hotel transactions in the world. Currently the company represents around 90,000 hotels from different parts of our planet.
