Hotels in France Show Improved Performance In January-February 2011

Hotels in France now experience good times as the stats show significant growth of all main figures. The positive trend appeared in January and continued in February. The growth concerns hotels of all stars, however, the luxurious segment is in front of all other levels.

RevPAR (revenue per available apartment) of luxury hotels in France grew by 8.9% and reached €108. Occupancy rates remain relatively high and reach 53.7% - up to 4.9% comparing to 2010. ADR of 4- and 5-star segments estimates €201 (+3.8%).

Downmarket accommodations in France also feel better this year, even though their performance is not so optimistic. 3- and 2-star hotels feature RevPAR growth in February of 8.2% and 5% consequently. The occupancy rates here are also maximal – 54.4% in February, which is 0.7% better than in 2010.

The statistics shows that business travellers oriented hotels show slightly better results that leisure tourists oriented ones. The cause of this may lay in some calendar advantages and this is particularly true for hotels in French regions. This year school winter holidays fell in February and March, while in 2010 they fell on February only. Such staggering of winter holidays has helped hoteliers to gain higher results.
