India and China definitely become hotel destinations as both countries have reported about increase in foreign arrivals. In India there increase in 2010 estimated 9% (in previous year this country was visited by 5.6 million of foreign tourists) and China showed a tremendous growth of 19% and 26.1 million arrivals in 2010 – absolute record for this country.
What about other Asian locations? Due to smaller sizes other countries cannot show such fantastic results in absolute figures, but in percentage the situation is also very positive – an increase of 46% for Sri Lanka, 21% for the Maldives and 19% for Nepal. All these countries also finished 2010 with records. Other locations in Asia Pacific show a raise of approximately 11%.
This trend is valid for other Asian regions as well. Arrivals of foreign tourists in Southeast Asia also increased for approximately 12% and reached the total volume of 72 million of people. Here the leading countries are Vietnam (+35%), Singapore with the increase of 20%, Philippines (+ 17% up), and Thailand (up to 12%).
Finally Northeast Asia’s full-year growth estimates 11%. In 2010 this region attracted 218 million of people.
