Hyatt Will Build Its First Hotel in Shanghai Under the Andaz Brand

Hyatt Hotels Corp. is going to open its first hotel in Shanghai under the luxury lifestyle brand Andaz. This is also going to be the first property under this brand in whole Asia. The accommodation is scheduled for opening in summer 2011.

Developed by Metro Land Corp. Ltd, this 24-story hotel with 307 high quality guestrooms has very advantageous location – in the center of Xintiandi district, which is known as the most popular entertainment destination is whole Shanghai. The new property will also feature a restaurant, a bar, a lounge bar, a brasserie, a SPA center, a pool, and event or meeting space of 1,300 sq. m.

As Steve Haggerty, the global head of real estate and development in Hyatt, says, Shanghai has become a very important destination within last decade. Today it’s really hard to underestimate the importance of this city. Thousands of overseas and in-country travellers come in Shanghai, so an Andaz hotel here will be definitely a nice addition to 3 Hyatt hotels that are already operating in this city.

Currently 5 Andaz hotels operate internationally. These are 2 hotels in New York, a hotel in London, San Diego and in Hollywood. Several new accommodations under this brand are already under development. These are the hotels in Amsterdam, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Sanya (China) and some other locations.
