Hilton has revealed its plans concerning its future development in India. The company plans to open as many as 19 new accommodations in this country by 2016. This will bring another 3,000 guestrooms in Indian portfolio of the famous hotelier. The properties will cover different segments, from luxury to budget ones. Hilton also plans to open full-service and focused-service accommodation here. First 6 hotels in India will already open this year.
The hotels will be opened either in major Indian cities or in secondary markets. The company is eager to make the hotel work as soon as possible, so the third of new inventory will start operating already in this year. New properties will be opened under the following brands: Hilton Garden (1 hotel), Doubletree by Hilton (1 hotel), Hampton by Hilton (1 hotel), and 3 Hilton hotels. Once these properties are opened, the company more than doubles its actives in India, as Martin Rink, the president of Hilton Asia Pacific, says. Currently Hilton manages 3 hotels in India. These are Hilton Janakpuri hotel in New Delhi, Hilton Garden Inn New Delhi Saket, and recently opened Hilton Mumbai International Airport.
The company plans adding new properties mostly by signing managing contacts. However, Mr. Rink says Hilton may consider adding some investments in building hotels under their core brands.
