Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has reported the company will build 3 hotels in Muscat, Oman. All three properties are currently under construction and are scheduled for opening in 2013. The new hotels will be opened under the W, Element and Westin brands and they will add 700 guestrooms to the portfolio of the famous hotelier. By the way, this year the company will also reopen another hotel in Oman under the Sheraton brand.
Currently the portfolio of Starwood Hotels and Resorts in the Middle East reaches 50 properties. Another 25 hotels will open within next several years. The company plans to open more hotels in the region and by 2015 Starwood is going have the hotels under all 9 brands owned by the company.
Frits van Paasschen, the president and CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, says the company showed a growth over 70% within the last decade; the company plans to increase its presence in all growing markets and the Middle East is one of them.
Currently Starwood starts its expansion to other countries of the region as well. In 2013 will open the first hotel in the UAE by Starwood – Sheraton Sharjah. One year later, in 2014, Starwood will open two luxury hotels in Jordan under its St. Regis brand. These will be The Residence at St. Regis Amman and St. Regis Amman.
