Just like other famous hoteliers, Marriott continues its expansion on the Chinese market and signs one more management deal, this time with Sanding Holding Group Co. ltd. for a hotel in Yiwu (300 km away from Shanghay), which is planned for opening in 2014.
This 281-key property will be located nearby International Trade City and will become the first property by the famous hotelier in this Chinese city. Apart from rooms the guests of the hotel will have access to large guestrooms and the largest ballroom and meeting space in Yiwu.
According to Simon Cooper, the president of the Asia Pacific department of Marriott, the company is already present in all major cities of China and now plans to move inside the continent and cover the country’s secondary cities. Even in smaller cities Marriott tries to maintain highest level of quality and create hotels with advantageous location, attractive design and upscale service. As Yiwu is actively promoted by the local government as top MICE spot in Zhejiang province, the hotelier hopes Yiwu Marriott will become a popular destination for business travelers.
The hotel will have a three-meal restaurant and a Chinese restaurant with 22 private dining rooms. A half of them will be located on the top floor of the hotel and will provide magnificent views of the city. The lobby of the hotel will also have a lounge zone.
Business facilities are mostly located on the ground floor and include a lounge zone, a business center and private meeting rooms. Relaxation facilities include a health club and an indoor swimming pool. The hotel will also provide a 1,410 sq. m function space with an 850 sq. m ballroom and a board room.
Currently Yiwu is most visited by local travelers and foreign visitors from Europe, the UAE, the US and Russia.
Marriott already manages over 50 hotels in China using 6 of its brands: The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Executive Apartments, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, and Courtyard by Marriott.
