NH Hotels has recently purchased a luxury mansion built in the 19th century and located in the arts district of Madrid. The company has disclosed they will turn the building into a 5-star hotel. The mansion is built in 1808 by Jorge Duran; Juan de Villanueva designed the complete building (also known as the designer of the Prado Museum). After the renovation the building will be turned into a 74-key luxurious hotel.
The new hotel in Madrid will be named as NH Palacio de Tepa. Ramon Esteve designer bureau is responsible for the renovation of the mansion. It is known the hotel will be made completely in gray and beige shades. This is done for a particular play of light through the large windows. The effect is better seen in penthouses. Different room types have different interior designs and various options. For example, if you choose a guestroom on the fifth floor, you will have one featuring a mansard roof and a minimalistic design.
Even though the mansion is turned into a hotel, the renovation has been done very carefully in order to keep the original design and atmosphere of an old house. The light in the corridors of the hotel is coming from 2 whitewashed patios that have been previously used as “corrala” yards.
