Marriott International plans to open new hotels in India in the nearest future, steadily increasing their number up to 100 by 2015. Currently the company has only 11 hotels in this country. New properties will be opened under 7 different brands. Finally Ritz-Carlton and Fairfield hotels will be introduced to tourists and local public.
The company has signed an agreement about opening 7 new hotels in different cities of India. Also Marriott has 23 hotels under reconstruction. All 30 hotels will be operating by 2013, increasing the total number of hotels up to 41.
Currently India occupies the second place in hotel development in Asia with China ranking first. Within next 3 years the total number of hotel rooms in India will reach 120,000. Approximately 10% of them will be under the Marriott brand flag.
7 new hotels in India, that have been announced several days ago, will come under the Courtyard brand (5 hotels), one Renaissance hotel and one Marriott hotel. New hotels are:
- Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad Hitec City hotel, 200 rooms, will be opened in 2013;
- Courtyard by Marriott Bhopal hotel, 101 rooms, will be opened in the 2nd quarter of 2011;
- Renaissance Raipur Hotel, 150 rooms, will be opened in 2013;
- Courtyard by Marriott Chembur hotel, 160 rooms, will be opened in 2013;
- Courtyard by Marriott Kochi/Cochin International Airport hotel, 107 rooms, will be opened in 2012;
- Courtyard by Marriott Nashik hotel, 150 rooms, will be opened in 2013;
- Marriott hotel in Jaipur, 365 rooms, will be opened in 2011.
