While hoteliers all over the world are eager to know how to recover the industry from the recession and get back to the results of 2008, research companies and large travel agencies make their forecasts concerning 2011. Here is the list of the most important trends made by the famous Cox & Kings travel agency:
1. Vacations that cover more than one country.
Recent crisis has made tourists more attentive to the money they spend, so they are more interested in the so called combined tours where they can stay, for example, in a hotel in India and then in Bhutan, or visit Lima and Iguassu in one trip.
2. Group Touring.
Group tours are more financially attractive and travelers are able to visit the same places at lower price. Sticking to groups allows people travel more often, making this type of vacation more popular these days.
3. Travel that is more than just sightseeing.
Today travelers become more and more sophisticated in their choices. The majority already has trips abroad and so they don’t want to visit historical locations only. For example, currently China attracts much interest, but tourists don’t just book a hotel in Beijing and stay in it. Today this country is a magnet for many art collectors.
4. Learning new things.
Educational tourism is a new trend in the industry that is going to be more popular in 2011. Travelers want to have not only sweet memories after the vacation, but also some new skill they can use. For example, hotels in Japan can offer such a funny service as sushi making and photography excursions in Argentina have already drawn attention.
5. New places and experimental travel.
Today all those “must-see” places every tourist knows about become less attractive for travelers. People want to visit far-flung destinations and exotic places, so later they can surprise their friends. Experts suggest Zimbabwe, Colombia, Jordan, Libya and Lebanon to be popular in 2011.
