This summer tourist season turned out to be unexpectedly successful for Montenegro. The country, traditionally attracting many visitors from the neighboring Balkan countries, could regain its market position in Western Europe, especially in France.
HTP Budvanska Rivijera, the largest tourist company in Budva, noted a 5% increase in tourist flow compared to the previous year. And the representatives of another company, "Ulcinjska Rivijera" (Ulcinj), believe that summer 2010 is one of the best tourist seasons of the last twenty years. According to "All of Montenegro", the tourist influx from Germany to Montenegro increased by 20%, and from the Czech Republic - by 70%.
The Ministry of Tourism is confident that the reason for the increased interest is a good advertising campaign as well as the emergence of new hotels in Montenegro. During the past year, the country's hotel sector expanded by adding twenty mini-hotels.
Montenegro joined the list of the countries that hosted a five-digit number of Russian tourists (46 600 people) during the first half of 2010. In this ranking, compiled by the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), Montenegro takes 21st place. The similar rating has the Dominican Republic (54,5%), Latvia (59,8%), Israel and Cyprus (50%).
