JDS Architects has expanded its portfolio with a new interesting project - a hotel with an undulating green roof.
Two Seasons Hotel was opened in August in the Norwegian city of Stavanger. A new six-store building is located directly on the roof of a pre-existing five-store parking garage.
The hotel in Stavanger features 194 comfortable guest rooms raised above the street level, thus providing hotel guests with a calm and quite environment. A noisy lobby as well as bar and restaurant are located on the first floor.
According to Inhabitat, the building resembles a ribbon wrapped around the square courtyard. It rises to match the stature of the tallest tower in Stavanger, and then dips down towards the city's historic district. The "green" roof serves as a terrace for hotel guests from which they can enjoy spectacular views over the bay and city.
