Lotte Group, a South Korean conglomerate, plans to open up to 5 hotels in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. According to Jason Cho, Lotte Hotel Moscow's Vice President, Lotte Group is preparing to open its first hotel in Russia - Lotte Hotel Moscow - a 304-room five-star hotel in the Russian capital's downtown area.
'Apart from five-star Lotte Hotel Moscow, we are considering the construction of another small budget hotel in Moscow close to Christ the Savior Cathedral. On the whole, we plan to build five or six hotels in the two capitals,' Jason Cho noted. Currently, the South Korean company aims for two major projects in St. Petersburg – a business hotel and a trade center.
Besides, Lotte Group has already selected a location for the trade center – near Nevsky Avenue; there are several alternatives for the hotel. ProHotel.ru has already reported about Lotte's plans to build properties in St. Petersburg. 'Our strategy will depend on how successful Lotte Hotel Moscow will be. Chances are we'll build the second luxury hotel in Moscow earlier than in St. Petersburg,' Mr. Cho emphasized.
He also added that the company was negotiating the construction of a golf club in Mnevniki, Moscow, and a hotel project in Vladivostok.
