One of the main attractions of Philadelphia is Independence Hall. That’s an outstanding architectural and historical monument. In this building in 1776 the Declaration of Independence, and later the US Constitution were signed. Construction of the magnificent Georgian building begun in 1732, but was completed only in 1753.
Today, Independence Hall is one of the most popular attractions of the United States. Every day amazing guided tours are held at Independence Hall. As a rule, a tour begins with a visit to the courtroom, as well as the assembly hall, where Continental Congress meetings were held. It’s worth noting that many halls after more than a hundred years managed to preserve their pristine design, which makes the tour even more interesting. Independence Hall can boast with lots of great historical artifacts. Here you can see the Washington's chair with rising sun cut on it, and the original silver inkstand, which was used during the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
One of the most interesting stages of the tour is going up to the tower, which offers great views of Independence Square. Once the tower had a bell, which in 1776 called residents for proclamation of the Declaration. Now the bell is kept in a separate pavilion, and the tower features so-called centennial bell, which was made in 1876. Travelers can visit Independence Hall 365 days a year. Schedule of guided tours should be checked in advance.
