Ashford Castle is located in County Mayo. It's hard to find castles as beautiful as this one. The feudal Lord Burke was its founder. He built a castle on the site of a ruined old monastery in 1228. The castle was run by the Burke family for more than 300 years. Richard Bingham became the owner in the late 16th century. The first major modernization of the castle took place under his leadership. It was completed with new walls and structures.

Ashford Castle, Ireland Some of the largest innovations were carried out in the castle in the second half of the 19th century. Sir Benjamin Guinness was its owner at this time. Several beautiful buildings in the Victorian style were built on the territory of the castle. The surrounding park has been significantly expanded. Several thousand trees were planted on its territory. The owners of the castle opened a hotel in it in the middle of the 20th century. Continuous modernization of the historic building continued until 1970. The new building was completed during this period. It allowed increasing the area of the castle twice.

The luxury hotel impresses with its refined interiors today. The most beautiful natural wood finish has been preserved in it.
