West Gate Center, Croatia

Upper Town (Gornji Grad) will be a great place to start your excursion program. This district is considered the oldest one in the city, so here visitors will find a lot of beautiful historic buildings and numerous museums. While walking along winding medieval streets, tourists will surely see a lot of unique architectural sites and will be able to visit a variety of cultural institutions.

Stone Gate is an interesting architectural monument, which is the only surviving part of the old defensive structure. The gate was built in the 13th century and acted as an entrance to Hradec – a small town, which later became a part of Zagreb. In 1731 virtually all residential buildings and fortifications were destroyed by fire, so only one of the five stone gates managed to survive.

Tourists should definitely not forget to visit Croatian Sabor. The construction of the Serbian parliament building was completed in 1908, so the building is a true example of neoclassicism. Croatian Sabor is one of the most important historical sites of the beginning of the 20th century as many important political decisions were made there. The beautiful palace is still the center of the political life of the city.
