Huangguoshu Waterfall, China

Beautiful Huangguoshu Waterfall is located in China in Guizhou Province, on the river Bai He. This waterfall is one of the largest not only in the country but also in East Asia. It looks incredibly harmonious and is surrounded by picturesque landscapes. The height of the waterfall is more than 77 meters, and the width is about 101 meters. The main cascade of the waterfall, whose height is 67 meters and the width is 83 meters, is the largest one.

The waterfall is located in a unique natural area, often called 'Oriental Switzerland'. In total in this natural area there are 18 waterfalls, they are surrounded by fabulously beautiful forests. Summer is the best time to visit this nature reserve. In the rainy season, all waterfalls are gaining full power. According to scientists, Huangguoshu is one of the oldest waterfalls of the planet. Its formation has been continiously going on for over 17 million years.

There are many beautiful legends associated with the waterfall, according to one of them, it was named after a magical fruit tree. Once this tree grew next to the waterfall, and when its yellow fruits began to ripen, people from all around rushed to the waterfall. They believed that the treasures of the waterfall can be found during those hundreds days, while the fruits are ripening.
