Kids can either just watch how professionals do it or even try themselves to create a plate or a pitcher. Besides, there is the Ethnographic Museum on the hill (with a wonderful view, by the way) where traditional costumes, weapons, tools, and musical instruments of Djerba inhabitants are presented.
You can also visit the Regional Museum near Borj EL Kebir where you’ll be told about the most peculiar historical periods of the island. In addition, kids would probably be especially interested in the ancient castle itself. It was built in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 16th one. Kids who are keen on everything unusual would like to go to the ancient El Ghriba Synagogue (more than 2,5 thousand years old).
Houmt Souk – the capital – is a quite gorgeous eastern city like from cartoons with a number of beautiful mosques. If your children saw Star Wars, then you should visit Ajim. It’s not just a traditional local village but the place where there are still original decorations for the world-famous cinematic saga’s first episode. Among other things, there is a gentle descent while going deeper into the water, so you can swim there even with babies without any worries.
