The resort has adopted a system of cashless transfers. International credit cards are accepted in all large hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. Traveler’s cheques are accepted but rather unwillingly.

Currency exchange should better be made in home country before a journey as in this case the exchange rates will be the most profitable. In Marbella currency can be exchanged in one of the numerous banks as well as in private currency exchange offices. The private offices operate seven days a week however charge a considerably high transaction fee.

Local markets and private shops welcome bargaining. In most cases it helps to reduce the price for up to 20 – 30%. Setting off for shopping one should be backed up with small change as it will help easily pay for the purchases.

Despite the fact the Marbella city is considered to be a rather quiet resort tourists still should not explore remote areas alone. Visiting city suburbs and remote districts is better being accompanied with a guide or a company of tourists. On the contrary central streets are safe for exploration and just hiking even late at night.

The only available transport in the evening is taxi which should better be called by phone. The cost of the trip should better be specified in advance. The most expensive rates are offered by taxis waiting for the clients near the hotels and entertaining centers.
