Many annual celebrations have a religious theme, one of the main events for locals is the celebration of Holy Week. This holiday is considered to be the most spectacular, its main event is the solemn processions that are held on the city streets. In March, Malaga holds an interesting historical festival called the Capture of Gaussian. The small ancient town Gaussian became famous for the fact that its inhabitants fought back the army of the French conquerors at the beginning of the 19th century.
