Maspalomas is a town in the middle of the popular tourist area that has the same name. Located in the southern part of picturesque Gran Canaria Island, the Maspalomas region is the liveliest resort area of the Canary Islands. Without a doubt, fans of beach rest and serene relaxation are the most frequent category of tourists who arrive in Maspalomas. According to one version, Maspalomas got its name after its founder - Rodrigo Mas de Palomar who moved to this island from another one – Mallorca. Until the second part of the 20th century, indigenous people reigned in this region, and so tourists didn’t even know about Maspalomas.
