Lanseria International Airport is situated in South Africa, near Johannesburg. It is the only privately owned airport in the region. The airport was built in 1974. Nowadays it comprises an improved terminal building and 1 runway capable of handling large aircraft.
It is convenient to move between the airport and the nearby localities using a taxi service, a shuttle service and the Gautrain train service. Taxi Rank company is located outside the territory of the airport at the following address: JR181 Next to Lanseria Airp, at the intersection of Airport Road and Ashanti Road.
The following firms provide their car rental services at Lanseria International Airport: Thrifty, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Bidvest, Europcar, First, Hertz, and Tempest. Such agencies as Avis, Europcar, Budget, Thrifty, and Tempest Car Hire are positioned in the airport terminal (Airport Rd, Krugersdorp, Lanseria). The car rental facilities of Bidvest Car Rental and Sixt are based next to them, at Pelindaba Road, Lanseria. The office of First company is found beside the passenger terminal building, at R512 Nietgedacht 535-Jq, Lanseria. There is an age restriction for car rental. The driver must be aged 21 or over. The rental cost is higher for the drivers aged between 21 and 23 years old. Moreover, car rental conditions may include limited mileage per day. Extra mileage is charged separately. Additional equipment (for example, GPS, radio, child restraint devices, spare wheels and so on) is also paid separately. It is possible to cross the border into the neighbouring states (the list of countries is included in the rental agreement) for an additional fee. Local taxes, fees and liability insurance are charged. Credit cards are accepted for payment. It should be mentioned that only a credit card holder may hire a vehicle, a third person is not allowed to do this.
