Located in Japan, Kansai International Airport is surrounded by water from all sides. It was built on the artificial island not far from Osaka. The airport was opened in 1994 and the outstanding architect Renco Piano worked on his project. The large airport has the well developed infrastructure and has two terminals - the north and the south. The southern terminal itself serves more than 12 million people annually. On the territory of the airport are presented not only the offices, but also the numerous shops, restaurants and cozy cafes.
The length of the runways of the airport is quite impressive, corresponding to 3,500 and 4,000 meters. Kansai is one of the most dangerous airports in the world, despite the excellent infrastructure and the good equipment of the runways. Only the certified pilots are allowed to land on the artificial island. Kansai is a good example that even the airport located in the hard-to-reach location can be relatively safe at the decent level of equipment.
