Genoa, Italy: Hatchback Rental
The most popular models representing the mini, compact, and economy car segments in Genoa are: Citroen C3, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Auris, Opel Astra, VW Golf, Ford Focus and others.

When hiring a budget hatchback, it is definitely worth saving on insurance deposit (franchise). Deposits on small cars in Italy vary from 100 to 1.000 euro/dollars. Check the rental conditions of each car in your selection to find a vehicle with a minimum deposit.

If your routes in Italy are foreseen to pass through hilly areas or mountains, it is not recommended to consider very small cars for rental. Their engines are usually insufficient for a confident driving on the roads with long or steep climbs.

At the rental office in Genoa, consider to take a 'Breakdown Assistance' package or ask an officer for a contact data to use in case of a vehicle breakdown. Cheap cars are sometimes unpredictable in operation.

Upon receipt of the rental invoice, please check that all the information, as well as the final payment amount do match the data in your voucher.

Driving Advices for Italy – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities

It is very easy to pay for a toll road. Simply overcome a system of entry barriers and get a ticket for the payment (which can be made in cash or by a credit card). Do not enter a highway by crossing a yellow line – this entrance is made for vehicles equipped with an automatic TELEPASS payment system.
The payment is made directly at the exit of a road upon the presentation of the ticket received. Highways must be left only through a blue (payment by a card) or white (payment in case) line. Yellow line is for cars with the automatic TELEPASS payment system.
Not all local parking lots are available for drivers daily and at any time of a day. If the entrance to a parking lot has a “Parcheggio” sign, then drivers should be especially careful. It is prohibited leave a car on certain hours in a given day of a month or week at such a parking.

Sightseeing of Genoa, Italy
Lovers of walking in historical places must visit the D’Albertis Castle. It was built in the second half of the 19th century and until 1932 belonged to the famous sea captain Enrico Alberto d’Albertis. The beautiful castle in the Neo-Gothic style has been preserved almost in its original form until now. Presently, part of the historic building is occupied by the most interesting Museum of World Cultures, in which exhibits from all parts of the world are collected.
Among the religious attractions, the Church of Santa Maria di Castello deserves a high priority. It was built in the 9th century. Unsurprisingly, this beautiful church changed its appearance many times in more than a thousand years. In the 14th century a monastery was built next to it. This ancient church has been in operation since the foundation. Today in the building of the monastery, which at the beginning of the 20th century fell into poor shape, is a small historical museum.

In 2004, the Galata Museo del Mare was opened in Genoa. It is located in the port region and occupies a very beautiful modern building. The main exhibits of this museum are models of ancient ships of different eras. Still, on its territory there is an interesting library, in which stored samples of old documents, navigation maps and other interesting exhibits, one way or another related to the ship business are stored. This modern museum will be interesting for the whole family to visit.
