Another interesting monument is Saint-Pierre-de-Lemenc Church that is considered as the oldest building in Chambery. The history of the church began in the 6th century. For hundreds of years, it had been repeatedly destroyed and then restored again and again. The historical building suffered the latest widespread destruction in the period of the Second World War. It is a miracle that the church has preserved its invaluable artifacts after hundreds of years of its history. Today, its visitors can admire old stained glass windows and unique medieval frescoes. Near the church, there is the old cemetery. At one time, the most senior city residents were buried here.
In the warm season, one of the most popular places chosen by local people and tourists for recreation is the Verne Park. The place where it is located has a rich and interesting history. Once, there was only the boulevard buried in trees. In the Middle Ages, knight tournaments were held in this small boulevard. During the ruling of Napoleon III, the fascinating park was set up here. Like many other districts of Chambery, this one was significantly damaged in the period of the Second World War. Fortunately, in the post-war period, the park was fully remade.
