Another extraordinary site is the Museum of Russian Dolls. It is quite large and occupies the exhibition space of over 250 m2. The core of its collection is beautiful wooden Russian dolls painted in the Russian original style. The museum houses almost 300 of them. Also, it is distinguished by beautiful modern equipment. During excursions, the visitors can watch interesting documentaries about the history of Russian dolls’ creation and take part in different themed events.
When walking through the city, you can see a lot of fascinating historical attractions, one of which is Sant Pere Martir Church. It has preserved most of its original exterior elements, including the bell. At the church entrance, there is the beautiful Gothic cross. This monument was installed here to celebrate Escaldes had been officially recognized as the province of Andorra.
Sant Miquel d'Engolasters Church is located in the surroundings of the city. It was built in the 12th century and is considered now as one of the oldest constructions in the region. Its exterior harmoniously combines the elements of Lombardic and Roman styles. In the church, several unique frescoes have been preserved. You can visit the church absolutely for free but it’s better to check the time when you can do this in advance.
