Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil is a large airport of international significance. It is used as both a civilian and military airport. The airport bears the name of the city in the territory of which it is located. It was opened in 1985. It is the busiest airport of Latin America. The air terminal is constantly being expanded. At present 3 terminals and 2 runways operate here. The airport services about 22 million passengers a year.
One can get to Sao Paulo by several ways. There is a bus service to the Tatuapé Bus Station, where you can change a bus or take the city metro (the Blue Line). Tickets can be bought in the arrival area or outside Terminals 1 and 2. You can pay for the taxi at the special box offices situated outside the terminals. Such firms as Guarucoop and Beserra Express, which provide shuttle services, work in the airport. If you want to reach the city by car on your own, you should drive down either of the following two highways: Rodovia Ayrton Senna or Rodovia Presidente Dutra.
Car rental offices are placed in the arrival area of Terminals 1 and 2. Several desks of vehicle hire firms are found opposite the baggage claim area in these terminals. These firms are Alamo, Hertz, Movida, Unidas, Focus Car Rental, Brasilia Rent A Car, Rentalcars, National, and Localiza. Such companies as Foco and Budget provide a free shuttle service to their car rental offices.
Besides, the number of vehicle rental facilities is located just outside the airport, at a small distance from it, next to the parking lots. They are Localiza (Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo, Cumbica Guarulhos – SP 07190-100) and Focus Car Rental (Av. Monteiro Lobato, 4550 – Cumbica Guarulhos – SP 07190-100).
