The area near Jolly Harbour remains one of the most popular recreation areas on the island. Calm and peaceful beaches of this area will be a perfect destination for tourists with children. Doigs Beach is usually the most crowded. There are several attractive restaurants and cafes near the island. It is a great place to relax and spend a whole day outside, enjoying tender sun and sampling the best delicacies cooked by local chefs. Fans of hiking will find it very exciting to explore the famous Rendezvous trail. This is a popular tourist route that crosses many amazing and beautiful areas of the island. During a walk there, participants of excursions will see many exotic flowers, interesting plants, and tropical birds.
Five Island Peninsula is also an important tourist destination on Antigua. The peninsula got its unusual name because of the five giant stones that rise from the water not far from the coast. At a glance, Five Island may look like a lifeless and dull place, but the peninsula is rich in interesting landmarks and is perfectly suitable for beach recreation. There are more than ten beautiful beaches along the coast. Go deeper into the island to see another interesting natural landmark – a giant rock, the shape of which is reminiscent of a turtle’s head.
Several popular excursion trails start from the peninsula. Tourists, who want to see the old Fort Barrington and many other old constructions, will be excited to explore this area. When it comes to traditional discos and nightclubs, there are not as many of them in Jolly Beach as in other towns on Antigua. Many cafes and restaurants near the coastal area serve guests until late at night and prepare an interesting entertainment program for them.
