In Lugano the system of cashless transfers is widely used. Credit cards are accepted in large stores, restaurants and refueling stations. Cash is needed for tourists eager to visit outdoor markets and small shops located far from the city center.

Restaurants and cafés have adopted the tipping system. In some upscale establishments the tips are included in the tab. For medium scale restaurants the 10% tipping is quite enough. In the eating houses and cheap cafes one can round up the sum and add 5% of tipping.

The upscale luxury hotels are located near the city center, that is why prudent travelers should give preference to the hotels located in the remote areas of the city. The city has an advanced public system of transportation, so it will not be a challenge to reach any of the city sites and places or recreation.
