Seafood for locals is not just daily food, but the most important national symbol too. Many indigenous people dedicate their entire life to seafood harvesting and making crafts of it; this important element of national culture simply couldn’t escape the attention of foreigners. Every year, O Grove Islands host the amazing Fiesta del marisco, which is visited by about 200,000 people. The history of the holiday extends back over 50 years; during that time its program has being developed and the number of fans has been rising steadily.
The festival is held in October; it is visited by famous chefs and culinary critics from different countries, as well as ordinary travelers wishing to taste popular national delicacies. Large white tents are set on the coast; fresh seafood is delivered there.
