Historic monuments of Bretagne are as interesting and diverse as cultural traditions of the region are. One of the most popular places is the ancient port town of Saint-Malo; it was named in honor of a Christian monk. For many years the picturesque coastal town remained the center of the slave trade and corsairs’ haven; the Old Town district reminds about those old days. It is surrounded by high walls offering marvelous panorama of the main symbol of the city, the castle. Today its walls house a rich collection of historical artifacts; a visit to the museum would be interesting to everyone.
No less interesting is the fortress town of Dinan. Among its main attractions is the city wall that is the highest in the region. Thick walls hide a number of unique historical objects, including awesome Basilica of Saint Sauveur, Saint-Malo Cathedral and the medieval castle housing the interesting historical museum.
One of the most popular resort towns is Dinard; in the second half of the 19th century, this small fishing town reached its zenith. Developed modern resort is famous for an abundance of natural attractions. Luxury villas located near the coast remind visitors of the city about the bygone historical era.
