Notre-Dame de Quebec, Quebec

» In the cathedral named after the Mother of God, in one of the vaulted rooms of the chapel, 4 governors and city bishops found their final resting place. » The exterior of the cathedral is devoid of pretentious gloss. It features gray brick blocks and simple forms.
» In interior rooms decorated in neoclassical style, you can see preserved pieces of art. One of them is the bishop’s seat of honor presented by the French King, Louis XIV.
» The building was completed in 1647. The interior features household items decorated with gilded elements. Stained glass windows create an unusual scene painting that depicts the life of the Mother of God and the Blessed. Canopies, paintings, shelters, wonderful pictures - everything represents luxury and majesty.
» Over the years of its existence, the building exterior has been changed because the building was destroyed and restored many times.
» Plaster blend, concrete, and glass were used to refurbish the exterior of Saint Mary's Cathedral. The combination of such materials lets get an unusual lighting effect from the facade.

Price Building, Quebec

» The old part of the city is right behind the fortress wall. The eighteen-storey (296-ft) skyscraper, the Edifice Price (Price Building), looks quite strange inside the fortress walls of the city. » The construction of the high building began in 1930. The architectural style is art deco of the 1930s. The Price Building symbolized the financial well-being of high society.
» The outer wall is made of gray limestone blocks. On the facade, you can see carved geometric figures. Strict straight lines of the side walls embody the symmetry of the whole building.
» The cone tower resembles a cream cake with its shape. The copper 9-ft roof is made in a classic style. There are also big rectangular windows without stained glass, canopies, or balconies.
» The Price Building is one of the first skyscrapers in Quebec. The “novelty” of that time resembles the skyscraper in New York with its appearance.
» At the upper 16th and 17th levels, there is the residence of the Head of the Government, the Minister of Quebec. The 18th level is occupied by the engineering department. Offices are situated on the lower floors.
