Travel Guide to La Romana, Dominican Republic

La Romana is a resort-city located on south-east of Spain on the coast of the Caribbean Sea. This town is famous for its silent and picturesque beaches.

La Romana is a small cozy town formed during the times of the development of sugar industry. The center of the city is the location of a large Duarte Park. Near the park are built numerous wooden bungalows. Each Saturday a local market is opened here. Visiting it will be very interesting to all tourists.

If you make a trip east from the town, you will see large farming regions that mostly grow cane. The beauty of local citrus gardens will amaze visitors of this place.

The majority of hotels are located along the seaside not far away from the town. Here tourists will find comfortable guestrooms, high quality service, peaceful rest and numerous entertainments. There is Chavon River in this region. The banks of the river are often rocky. Here is located village of painters named Altos de Chavon. The village is built according to old Italian traditions. Many years ago here lived a crew of Christopher Columbus after finding sanctuary in this place during the second voyage.
