Kirchberg in Tirol is located at an altitude of 837 meters above sea level. It was settled in the Bronze Age. Originally exclusively Illyrians lived here. But the Bavarians began to come to their lands about fourteen centuries ago. They partially destroyed and assimilated the local population. Historical Chronicles indicate that the settlement first came into the Church papers in the distant 902. It was donated to the Bishopric of Regensburg at this time. Superstitious Kirchberg residents soon found building materials that had been stolen by birds. They lay on the top of one of the hills. The locals interpreted this as an order of the Almighty to build a new Church on this site. The Church of St. Ulrich is located there today. Modern citizens believe that it protects the town from harm and brings people good luck in business. The cult building stands on the hill since 1426. It was consecrated in honor of Saint Ulrich of Augsburg. It was overhauled once since then in 1511. The size of the structure did not change further.

Today the Church of St. Ulrich is 32 meters long, 12 meters high, and 11 meters wide. Despite its compactness, the structure is quite monumental, largely due to the strong influence of Gothic trends in the architecture of the past. The interior of the Church was modified in accordance with the prevailing Baroque fashion in the 18th century. Kassian Singer was engaged in the reconstruction of the interior. He decided to place a Baroque pulpit in the Western part of the Church. Today there are three altars in the Church. If you want, you can also visit the forty-meter bell tower. The image of the mother of God and child is on the North wall of the building.

The cemetery is traditionally located near the temple. It is the same age as the cult building. Today it attracts many tourists as a monument of former times with ancient tombstones and crosses. There is another necropolis in the town. It's not very ancient. But it is also interesting. It is a Jewish cemetery that was founded in the 19th century.

Several quite interesting buildings of the past have survived in Kirchberg in Tirol. They will surely appeal to fans of old Austrian architecture. You can find them on your own or by going on an organized tour.

For example, there is a half-timbered house with a mansard roof, built in the 18th century. People still live in it. The local post office building is also interesting. It was built in the 19th century and has existed unchanged since then. The Order of Poor Clerics Regular of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools, also known as piarists, deserves attention. It was quite an advanced school in the past. There were the first classes here. Its distinctive feature was a complete ban on corporal punishment.

The excursion to the Oelschlag Museum is very interesting. There was an old linseed oil production once here. Today you can see the machines, tools, and uniforms of the workers of the past here. You will learn in detail how the ancestors of the modern Kirchberg inhabitants made linseed oil. If you want to plunge into the life of the Tirol peasants, you should come to the town in October. A festival dedicated to village culture takes place here at this time. "Open days" are held in local farms as part of this event. You can watch the actions of artisans or try yourself as a potter or blacksmith. It is also worth tasting the fresh traditional village cuisine.
